SteuKompass is a fast, privacy-first Quick Check for Germany. In a few minutes you get a transparent estimate of whether a refund or an additional payment is more likely.

Why we build this

Many people leave money on the table because getting started with a tax return feels unnecessarily complicated. We want to simplify the first step: quickly check whether it is worth it, then decide what to do next with clarity.

SteuKompass intentionally stays focused: quick orientation instead of overloaded tax software. The goal is to help you decide fast whether deeper filing effort makes sense.

How it works

1) You enter only the most important numbers
Gross income and a few values from the annual payroll tax statement, plus typical factors such as commute or childcare.
2) We calculate an estimate as a range
You get a plausible range (min/mid/max) instead of false precision, plus short hints about what influenced the estimate the most.
3) You decide on the next step
If it looks worthwhile, you can continue with a tax app or tax assistance. If not, you save time.

Who runs SteuKompass?

SteuKompass is an independent maker project. It is not operated by a public authority and is not an official tax portal.

Content and logic are improved continuously, but SteuKompass does not provide individual tax recommendations and does not replace tax advice.

How we handle data

The setup is built to be privacy-first. You do not need an account or document uploads for the Quick Check.
